Organized by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK),
the "YÖK Anatolian Project Presentation Meeting" was held at the
Presidential Complex with the honor of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Under the auspices of the Presidency, within the scope
of the "Higher Education Council Anatolia Project" organized by YÖK,
15 young universities in Anatolia established after 2006 were matched with 12
well-established universities of our country. With the project announced by our
President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the infrastructure, academic staff and
knowledge of developed universities were opened to the use of young
universities in Anatolia. In addition, with this project, it is aimed to fill
the shortcomings of young universities quickly.
Our Rector Prof. Dr. Nihat Şındak made a statement
after the meeting: As Siirt University, we were matched with “Çukurova and
Gebze Technical Universities” within the scope of “YÖK Anatolian Project”.
We will cooperate with these distinguished
universities of our country in order to establish a quality education cooperation
in higher education and to transfer scientific experiences.
Within the scope of the project, our Faculty of Fine
Arts and Design, Department of Architecture, our Faculty of Engineering, Civil
Engineering Department, Gebze Technical University, our Faculty of Medicine and
our Faculty of Education Department of Classroom Teaching were matched with
Çukurova University. With our partner universities, we aim to benefit from the
project in the most efficient way, to initiate student and faculty exchange
between the two universities as soon as possible, and to organize joint
scientific meetings, projects and events. We would like to thank our President
Recep Tayyip Erdogan and our President of YÖK Professor Dr. Yekta Saraç,
Çukurova University Prof. Dr. Meryem Tuncel and Gebze Technical University
Prof. Dr. Muhammed Hasan Aslan for their contribution to the development of
newly opened universities with the "YÖK Anatolia Project".
In the first phase of the YÖK Anatolian Project, other
universities established after 2006 can be included in the program. In
addition, the students of the universities that are matched will be able to
participate in the programs of the university they are matched with in 63
programs.
What is the "YÖK Anatolian Project"?
The “YÖK Anatolian Project”, which will be implemented
for the first time in our higher education by the new YÖK, aims to match newly
established or developing “young universities” with “senior universities” that
are more advanced in terms of academic human resources and research
infrastructure in order to support the development of other universities in
certain areas.
As a result of the preliminary studies carried out
within the scope of the project, by signing the twinning protocols between the
Young and Senior universities, provisions regarding the "fields,
qualifications, mobility of students, academic and administrative staff,
education and training, R&D and project cooperation in the fields of the
university's rights and obligations were determined.
With the YÖK Anatolian Project, the faculty members of
our 12 senior universities will personally give lectures to students in some
courses in some of the determined departments of our 15 Young Universities
established after 2006 and will guide them in research areas. Universities will
mutually open their research infrastructures and library facilities to each
other.
The project will make important contributions to young
academicians at graduate and doctoral levels as well as undergraduate. “Open
Science - Open Access” and distance education opportunities of our universities
will also facilitate the implementation of the project during the pandemic
period.
The project, which will be carried out entirely on a
voluntary basis, is planned to be implemented as of the spring semester of the
2020-2021 academic year. The number of students in our young universities that
will benefit from YÖK Anatolia Project is 170 thousand 480.
